Troubleshooting

Use this guide when you cannot start Change Management, a change is missing or unclear, a question is blocked, or you cannot finish the version.
Confirm that the project already has its current questionnaire loaded or its existing Decipher XML imported, and that you selected Upload New Version from that project. Check that the revised questionnaire is included in the upload. If the project is a tracker, confirm whether it is truly a new wave before selecting the new-wave option.
First, confirm that the revised file was uploaded and that the intended change is visible in it. Metaforms identifies changes most reliably when the questionnaire uses tracked changes or highlights. Add a clarification to describe the missing update, then ask the Change Management agent to create the change. Review the resulting XML preview before accepting it.
Do not accept it. Use the agent to explain what should change and reference the relevant question or questions with @. Include the intended wording, answer options, routing, or quota impact. Preview the revised proposal, then accept it only when it matches the questionnaire.
Open the linked clarification, add the missing answer or context, and select Check Resolution on the blocked question. The agent will re-evaluate the change. If it remains blocked, make the clarification more specific—for example, state which question, option, or routing outcome is intended.
Stop before selecting the option. For a live survey, verify the intended workflow with the project owner. Metaforms syncs live-survey updates to a temporary Decipher version and avoids deleting questions or options, but the choice should still match your team's release process.
Every checklist item must be applied or marked Done before Finish CM appears. Check the checklist for incomplete or blocked questions, resolve any linked clarifications, and retry the item. Finish only after reviewing all accepted previews and completing your normal QA.
Before proceeding, review the files carried into the new version. Files not removed during upload carry forward from the earlier version. If an outdated file affects the detected changes, do not rely on the current results; correct the version inputs before applying changes.
Share the project and version name, the affected question ID, the clarification text or checklist status, and a screenshot of the preview or error. This gives the support team enough context to reproduce the issue.
