Overview
How the questionnaire review, client collaboration, and programming handoff workflow works in Metaforms — for PMs and Survey Programmers.
This guide is for you if you're a PM running a questionnaire through Metaforms, or an SP (Survey Programmer) receiving one to build. It's a working reference for how the tool functions — the AI-assisted review, comments and tracked changes, client sharing and permissions, versioning, and the programming handoff — including the parts your client will experience directly, so you know exactly what they see and can set expectations with them.

Your role in the workflow
PM — you own the questionnaire end to end: review it with the Agent's help, manage comments and changes, configure and share client access, reconcile client feedback, and decide when a version is ready to freeze and hand to programming.
SP — you receive a frozen version in the Programming workspace and build the live, fieldable survey from it. You may also reconcile a newer version the PM freezes while you're still scripting. The non-programmed changes are clearly marked each time.
Client — reviews via a secure link you control, with either View or Edit access. Everything client-facing in this guide is written so you understand exactly what they can and can't do.
What to expect, at a glance
Make a change
It logs as requiring approval in the Changes tab and allows conversation within the change's comment thread.
Add a comment
It appears instantly for everyone with permission to see it — no submit step, no delay.
Reply to a comment
It's added to that thread immediately, visible to everyone who can see the original.
Resolve a comment
PMs can resolve all comments. Clients can resolve their own.
Approve a change
Clients and PMs can approve changes. PMs have final responsibility to approve or carry forward remaining changes before freezing for SP handoff.
A client makes a direct text edit (Edit access)
Captured immediately as a tracked, attributed change in your Changes log. You can chat or comment on the change there.
A client edits the questionnaire
Only the questionnaire document changes; the live survey updates only when you approve changes and freeze the questionnaire.
Open a locked, read-only version
You can view it and see what changed from the prior version, but not comment there. Switch to the current working copy to comment.
Freeze / lock a new version
The tool prompts you to send only approved changes or bulk-approve all, and shows a count of unresolved comments.
